A day in the life as a Junior Management Accountant

Tell us about your day-to-day activities in your role. 

My role is quite diverse and ranges from processing staff payroll to analysing costs within the profit and loss account to completing reconciliations. Excel allows us to work efficiently, using a range of formulas to automate processes. Each day presents a different task, one day I could be completing the VAT return for the UK, and the next liaising with accountants in South Africa.  

What challenges do you deal with in your role at First Point Group? 

Deadlines are probably the main challenge on our team as we each have our own set which needs to be met for the end goal to be completed. If you fall behind with one, then that has a knock-on effect that carries through to other team members and their roles.  

What do you enjoy about the work culture and people at First Point Group? 

The culture at FPG has a balance of professionalism yet is quite relaxed. For me, this environment contributes to how I perform in my role and sets the tone for my working day. It seems to work that way throughout the different teams and offices and there is always someone you can ask for help or expertise in a particular area should you need it.
