As a Process Engineer – Molding, you will serve as the key technical link between product engineering, molding operations, and external suppliers. Your expertise will guide new product development, tooling design, process optimization, and troubleshooting across global manufacturing sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define technical specifications and support global selection of molding equipment.
- Provide worldwide support for molding processes, tooling troubleshooting, and process improvements.
- Work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams including R&D, Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Operations.
- Lead product transfers related to molded components.
- Serve as the SME (subject matter expert) for molded part and tool design; provide DFM input during product development.
- Establish supply chain requirements for molded parts.
- Drive and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency.
- Support development of preventative maintenance programs for tooling.
- Serve as the main engineering contact for external molding suppliers regarding product, tooling, and quality concerns.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline
- +3 years of experience in molding or mold-making processes within a manufacturing environment
- Availability for domestic and international travel
- Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications (‘What Will Excite Us’)
- Scientific Injection Molding experience
- Decoupled II process expertise
- RJG certification
- Experience with molding automation (Wittmann preferred)
- Experience using CAD/CAE software
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with statistical tools
