Site Engineering Manager
A well-capitalised international data centre operator is seeking an experienced Site Engineering Manager to take full ownership of electrical and mechanical operations across a live, mission-critical data centre site in Finland.
This is a senior, on-site leadership role with responsibility for 24/7 operational performance, engineering standards, compliance, cost control, and team capability in a Tier III / Tier IV environment.
The Role
As Site Engineering Manager, you will be the senior technical authority on site, leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and ensuring the safe, resilient, and efficient operation of all critical infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leadership of on-site electrical, mechanical, and HVAC engineering teams
- End-to-end responsibility for HV/LV power, cooling, water, and fire systems
- Development, implementation, and optimisation of O&M procedures and emergency response plans
- Optimisation of free cooling and waste-heat recovery to reduce PUE
- Delivery of energy-efficiency, automation, and reliability improvement projects
- Ownership of site engineering budgets, cost control, and supplier performance
- Coordination with utilities, fire authorities, and local regulators
- Ensuring compliance with Finnish OSH Act, EN 50600, and GDPR
- Leadership of refurbishment, upgrade, and capacity expansion projects
- Audit readiness and reporting to regional or global operations leadership
Key Requirements
- Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering
- 5+ years' experience in data centre or critical facilities operations
- Proven experience leading site-based engineering teams
- Strong technical depth across electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience operating Tier III / Tier IV data centres
- Familiarity with Finnish S1 / S2 certification requirements
- Comfortable leading engineering operations in a 24/7, high-availability environment
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in Finland or the wider Nordic region
- Strong knowledge of EN 50600, OSH Act, and EU compliance frameworks
- Track record delivering energy-efficiency, free cooling, or sustainability initiatives
- Strong working knowledge of BMS / EMS platforms
- Vendor and contractor management experience in the Finnish market
