Senior Telecom Network Architect (IP/MPLS & Cloud) – Contract (6+ Months, Remote Europe)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Telecom Network Architect to play a key role in designing and delivering a next-generation Telco Management Environment, supporting the migration of critical telecom applications into the public cloud.
This is a high-impact, architecture-level role at the intersection of carrier-grade IP/MPLS networking, cloud networking, and network automation, working within a large-scale telecommunications environment.
The Opportunity
You will be responsible for defining and delivering end-to-end network architectures that bridge traditional telecom infrastructure with modern cloud platforms. This includes designing scalable, secure, and automated network solutions that support the transformation toward cloud-integrated (Telco Cloud) environments.
The role sits within the service provider / carrier networking domain, with a strong focus on:
- IP Core / MPLS backbone networks
- Telco management and control plane environments
- Cloud-native and hybrid network architectures
- Automation-first design principles
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end IP/MPLS network architectures supporting telecom applications migrating to public cloud environments
- Define scalable network migration patterns integrating traditional telco networks with cloud platforms
- Produce High-Level (HLD) and Low-Level (LLD) designs aligned with Telecom Security Act standards
- Architect solutions optimized for automation and CI/CD-driven deployments
- Translate legacy/manual configurations into model-driven, automated templates
- Validate and test network designs within public cloud environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional architecture and engineering teams to deliver robust, production-grade solutions
Required Experience & Skills
- Extensive experience designing carrier-grade IP network architectures across:
- On-premise telecom environments
- Hybrid infrastructures
- Public cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
- Strong expertise in service provider technologies and protocols, including:
- IS-IS
- MPLS / MPLS-SR
- MP-BGP
- LDP
- QoS
- Proven track record producing HLD and LLD documentation for complex network environments
- Hands-on experience with:
- Routing & switching platforms (Nokia, Cisco, Juniper)
- Security platforms (Fortinet or Palo Alto)
- Solid understanding of IP networking across both physical and cloud-based infrastructures
- Exposure to network automation and model-driven approaches, including:
- Netconf / YANG (desirable)
- CI/CD-driven network deployment concepts
Key Attributes
- Ability to operate at an architecture level, defining strategy as well as design
- Experience working in large-scale telecom / service provider environments
- Strong collaboration skills across architecture, engineering, and delivery teams
- Focus on building scalable, secure, and automation-ready network solutions
Contract Details
- Duration: 6 months initial contract (high likelihood of extension)
- Location: Fully remote
- Eligibility: Candidates must be based within Europe (client SLA requirement)
- Language: English (minimum B2 level)
Summary
This role is ideal for a senior-level telecom network architect with deep expertise in IP/MPLS core networks, who is looking to work on cloud transformation initiatives within a carrier-grade environment.
You will be instrumental in shaping how traditional telecom networks evolve into modern, automated, cloud-integrated platforms.
