Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Engineer – FPGA (RF/DSP Systems) to lead the design, development, and integration of FPGA-based architectures for advanced communication platforms.
You will be responsible for designing high-performance FPGA systems, implementing DSP algorithms, and driving system-level integration across complex secure communication solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop FPGA architectures from system requirements and high-level design specifications
- Design and implement DSP and baseband processing blocks for wireless communication systems
- Integrate FPGA designs with hardware and support full system bring-up and validation
- Develop SoC-based solutions using Xilinx Zynq / Zynq Ultrascale+ platforms
- Work with high-speed interfaces including DDR, JESD, AXI, Ethernet, and serial links
- Perform FPGA optimization, timing closure, and resource utilization analysis
- Develop and execute HDL testbenches, verification strategies, and regression testing
- Debug FPGA designs using on-chip tools, logic analyzers, and lab equipment
- Support system integration across hardware, software, and RF teams
- Contribute to waveform and communication protocol implementation
- Ensure robust performance for mission-critical secure communication systems
Required Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of FPGA development experience in wireless / telecom / defense domains
- Strong expertise in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
- Strong DSP algorithm implementation experience
- Experience with Xilinx FPGA platforms (Zynq, Ultrascale+, RFSoC preferred)
- Deep understanding of FPGA architecture, timing closure, and optimization
- Experience with high-speed interfaces (JESD204, DDR, Ethernet, AXI)
- Strong experience in FPGA verification, simulation, and debugging
- Experience with C++, MATLAB, or Python for algorithm development is a plus
- Exposure to communication systems (4G/5G, SATCOM, tactical radios)
- Strong analytical, debugging, and system-level thinking
