Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Manager (Data Centre) to lead the operations, maintenance, and performance of mission-critical facilities within a high-availability environment.
This role will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical infrastructure while leading a team of engineering and operations professionals. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, maintenance programmes, vendor management, compliance activities, and operational improvements to ensure the highest standards of reliability and service delivery.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role within a growing digital infrastructure platform and contribute to the ongoing development of operational excellence across multiple facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Lead the day-to-day operation of mission-critical facilities, ensuring all infrastructure systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
- Drive operational excellence to maintain the highest levels of availability and service performance.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Manage incident response activities, including troubleshooting, escalation management, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Monitor operational KPIs, identify risks, and implement improvement initiatives to enhance performance and resilience.
- Ensure operational readiness across all critical systems, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, and supporting infrastructure.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of facilities, engineering, and operations professionals.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Manage workforce planning, resource allocation, and team development initiatives.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and succession planning activities.
- Ensure effective coordination and communication between shifts and operational teams.
Maintenance & Infrastructure Management
- Oversee preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes across critical infrastructure assets.
- Ensure maintenance activities are executed in accordance with industry standards, manufacturer requirements, and internal procedures.
- Review maintenance schedules, procedures, and reports to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Coordinate infrastructure upgrades, refurbishment projects, and system improvements.
- Manage external contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation, maintenance records, operating procedures, and audit trails.
- Support compliance programmes and industry certifications.
- Lead risk assessments and business continuity planning activities.
- Ensure operational procedures align with corporate governance and security requirements.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key operational contact for customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Support customer requirements through effective service delivery and issue resolution.
- Manage operational communications during incidents, maintenance activities, and planned works.
- Develop strong relationships with customers and service providers to drive operational success.
Financial & Strategic Management
- Support budget planning, forecasting, and cost-control activities.
- Monitor operational expenditure and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives focused on capacity expansion, operational improvement, sustainability, and long-term business growth.
- Assist senior leadership in developing operational strategies and implementing best-in-class practices.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Building Services, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 7 of experience within data centre operations, critical facilities, or mission-critical environments.
- Minimum 3 years of management experience leading technical and operational teams.
- Proven experience managing 24/7 operations within a critical infrastructure environment.
- Strong understanding of data centre facilities operations and maintenance best practices.
Technical Knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Electrical distribution systems
- UPS systems
- Standby generators
- Chiller and cooling systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Fire detection and suppression systems
- Energy and capacity management
- Experience managing critical maintenance programmes and vendor service contracts.
- Understanding of operational risk management, incident management, and business continuity processes.
Leadership & Communication
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proven ability to lead teams under pressure and manage complex operational challenges.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Language Requirements
- Fluent in English and Chinese.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, cloud, or large-scale critical facilities environments.
- Experience leading facility expansion projects, infrastructure upgrades, or commissioning activities.
