Our client, a global leader in critical digital infrastructure solutions, is searching for an Engineering Laboratory Manager to spearhead the validation and testing of liquid cooling and advanced mechanical systems.
This role is pivotal in developing high-performance thermal management solutions for data centres and critical environments, helping define the future of mechanical engineering in cooling technologies.
About the Role
As the Senior Lab Manager, you’ll lead the daily operations of a state-of-the-art liquid cooling and thermal systems laboratory in the USA. This includes overseeing advanced mechanical test rigs, ensuring systems perform to the highest standards of efficiency and reliability.
You’ll drive validation programmes, partner with global product engineering teams, and guide a talented team of engineers to push the boundaries of heat transfer, thermal dynamics, and fluid mechanics in mission-critical environments.
What You’ll Do
- Lab Leadership: Manage advanced lab operations, ensuring seamless performance of mechanical and liquid cooling systems.
- Thermal Systems Validation: Lead testing programmes on heat exchangers, pumps, chillers, and liquid cooling loops.
- Project Management: Oversee performance testing, reliability analysis, and scalability studies of mechanical cooling solutions.
- Collaboration: Partner with global design and product development teams to align validation with customer and operational goals.
- Team Development: Mentor engineers and specialists, promoting technical excellence and innovation.
- Data Insights: Analyse thermal performance data to drive product optimisation and efficiency improvements.
Requirements
- Mechanical Expertise: Strong background in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, cooling systems, and thermal management.
- Experience: 7+ years in mechanical/thermal system validation and testing, with at least 3 years in leadership.
- Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or closely related field.
- Innovation: Track record of developing and implementing advanced mechanical testing frameworks.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with data centres, HVAC, mission-critical environments, or industrial cooling systems (e.g., pharma, dairy, or similar).
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage teams, projects, and cross-functional stakeholders.
