Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP Controlling (CO) Consultant to join an active S/4HANA programme. The successful candidate will bring proven functional expertise in SAP CO configuration and implementation, with deep hands-on experience across Cost Centre Accounting, Internal Orders, Profitability Analysis, and Product Costing within an S/4HANA environment. This role sits within the Finance workstream and requires strong cross-module integration capability, particularly across FI and adjacent modules, with the ability to engage directly with management accounting and finance stakeholders to translate business requirements into a robust controlling solution.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement SAP CO solutions within an S/4HANA landscape, covering the full functional scope of management accounting processes


• Configure and manage Cost Centre Accounting including cost centre hierarchies, cost element setup, planning, actual postings, and periodic allocations — assessments, distributions, and activity allocation


• Design and configure Internal Orders — order types, settlement profiles, allocation structures, budget management, and order settlement to cost centres and assets


• Configure Profitability Analysis (COPA) — costing-based and account-based COPA, characteristic derivation, value field mapping, and profitability reporting


• Configure Product Costing including cost estimates, costing runs, work-in-progress calculation, variance analysis, and results analysis


• Ensure seamless integration between CO and FI, MM, SD, and PP to support end-to-end cost and profitability flows across the business


• Conduct fit-gap analysis, prepare functional specifications, and translate business controlling requirements into SAP CO configuration


• Support period-end and year-end closing activities including assessment cycles, settlement runs, WIP calculation, and variance postings


• Support UAT, defect resolution, cutover planning, and knowledge transfer to client management accounting teams


• Produce and maintain configuration documentation, functional design documents, and end-user training materials

Required Experience & Skills

• Proven track record as an SAP CO functional consultant with at least one full-cycle S/4HANA implementation


• Deep expertise in Cost Centre Accounting — planning, actual postings, period-end allocations, and reporting within the Universal Journal framework


• Strong Internal Orders configuration experience — order lifecycle management, settlement, and budget availability control


• Hands-on COPA experience — characteristic configuration, derivation rules, value field assignment, and profitability segment reporting


• Product Costing capability — standard cost estimates, actual costing, material ledger, and variance analysis where applicable


• Understanding of S/4HANA CO simplifications — particularly the merger of FI and CO in the Universal Journal and the elimination of reconciliation ledger


• Integration experience across CO-FI, CO-MM, CO-SD, and CO-PP to ensure accurate cost flows and management reporting


• Ability to engage directly with CFOs, management accountants, and cost controllers
