Japan- Business Development Manager (0–1)
Role Overview
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to drive the 0-to-1 market entry and growth of a leading AI SaaS solution.
This role will take full ownership of the Japan market, leading strategy, enterprise sales, ecosystem development, and overall commercial success.
We are seeking a hands-on leader who combines strategic thinking with strong execution capabilities:
- Proven experience in Japan-based B2B SaaS or enterprise software, with the ability to build new markets from scratch
- Deep understanding of Japanese enterprise customer dynamics and decision-making processes
- Ability to both design GTM strategy and personally drive key deals and partnerships
- Strong ownership mindset with a results-driven approach
Preferred Background:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or above preferred
- Languages:
- Native-level Japanese
- Business-level English preferred
- Conversational Chinese is needed
Key Responsibilities
Market Strategy & GTM Planning
- Define and execute Japan market entry strategy and 0–1 growth plan
- Identify target industries, customer segments, and go-to-market approach
Enterprise Client Acquisition (Core KPI)
- Lead acquisition of major enterprise (large B) clients in Japan
- Build flagship customer cases to establish market credibility
Channel & Ecosystem Development
- Build and expand local partner networks, including resellers, SI partners, and ecosystem alliances
- Develop scalable partnership models to accelerate growth
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in Japan B2B SaaS or enterprise software, with end-to-end business ownership
- Strong understanding of Japan's B2B market environment and enterprise decision-making processes
- Proven track record of acquiring and managing large enterprise clients
- Ability to work cross-functionally via using English or Chinese
- Familiarity with AI, automation, document processing, or enterprise digitisation is preferred
Nice to Have
- Experience in AI SaaS or early-stage (0–1) business building
- Strong network within SI partners and channel ecosystems in Japan
- Experience working in cross-border or global teams
