Location: Remote from LATAM
RF Optimization Engineer will be responsible for leading performance improvement activities across Ericsson-based LTE, VoLTE, and 5G NR radio access networks. This role involves deep technical analysis, KPI performance management, parameter strategy development, and advanced feature implementation for Ericsson RAN. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams including design, integration, and operations to ensure high quality of service and optimal network performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize Ericsson LTE, VoLTE, and 5G NR networks at cluster, market, and national scale.
- Drive KPI improvements (Accessibility, Retainability, Mobility, VoLTE MOS, Throughput, Latency, UL/DL SINR, Beam Performance).
- Conduct deep-dive root cause analysis using Ericsson OSS and performance tools (ENM, Exfo, TEMS, Actix, NEMO, etc.).
- Optimize 5G NSA/SA performance including beamforming tuning, carrier aggregation, Massive MIMO settings, and NR neighbor strategies.
- Develop and implement parameter audit frameworks and optimization guidelines specific to Ericsson RAN.
- Activate and tune advanced Ericsson features such as:
- 5G: Massive MIMO, NR CA, SSB optimization, NSA anchor tuning, BWP management.
- LTE: LAA, eNB/eSRVCC, CA combos, MRO, MLB.
- VoLTE: SRVCC, IMS KPIs, RTP quality analysis, codebook optimization.
- Ensure consistency and stability across the network by managing L3/L2/L1 parameters.
- Support capacity expansion: carrier planning, sectorization, NR DSS, and site optimization.
- Collaborate with planning teams on propagation analysis, PCI planning, neighbor relations, and spectrum utilization.
- Lead post-processing and analysis of drive test data for cluster optimization and VoLTE/5G troubleshooting.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.
- Participate in network acceptance, new feature trials, and network transformation projects.
Required Skills & Experience
- Expert-level knowledge of Ericsson RAN (Eran, ENM, OSS, parameters, counters, features).
- Strong background in 5G NR optimization, including Massive MIMO, beam management, and NR SA/NSA mobility.
- Advanced VoLTE experience involving MOS analysis, RTP quality, IMS KPIs, SRVCC/HO issues.
- Hands-on with performance tools: Actix, TEMS, NEMO, QXDM, SwissQual, Ericsson-specific tools.
- Strong understanding of RAN protocols (RRC, MAC, PDCP, PHY) and signaling flows for LTE/5G/IMS.
- Ability to lead complex troubleshooting, including call flows, layer 1–3 analysis, and log investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications in 5G, LTE, or Ericsson RAN (e.g., Ericsson Certified Expert).
- Experience with automation tools (Python, SQL) for KPI reporting or optimization.
