Job Description: Regional Project Delivery Director (Data centre)
Role Purpose
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of large-scale data centre projects across the region. The position drives project execution from inception through to handover, ensuring alignment with business objectives, budget, schedule, and quality standards. The role provides strategic oversight and operational support to country-level data center project teams, while also directly managing key workstreams as required.
Key Accountabilities
Project Execution: Lead the delivery of new data center projects (greenfield and brownfield) across the region, overseeing all phases including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and close-out.
Programme & Process Setup: Develop project master schedules, charters, and establish robust governance frameworks and delivery processes for each project.
Resource & Team Assembly: Identify and engage specialist consultants, subject matter experts, and contractors to form high-performing project delivery teams.
Business Alignment: Translate strategic business requirements into actionable project deliverables, ensuring operational needs are fully captured and executed.
Financial Management: Prepare capital funding requests, manage approved budgets, track cash flow, and ensure expenditure remains within approved limits.
Procurement Leadership: Lead tendering and contract administration processes, including evaluation, negotiation, and award.
Reporting: Provide timely, accurate progress and financial reports to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Technical Expertise: Apply deep knowledge of critical infrastructure systems (power generation, distribution, cooling, controls) and their redundancy configurations to guide design and delivery decisions.
Construction Oversight: Provide day-to-day oversight of construction activities, ensuring work is carried out safely, on time, and cost-effectively.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Research and assess emerging technologies that could enhance project delivery or improve operational performance of completed facilities.
Testing & Commissioning: Oversee all stages of testing and commissioning (factory, site, integrated) for critical M&E systems.
Design & Drawings: Review and interpret design and construction drawings across all disciplines (architectural, structural, M&E) to support schedule development and quality assurance.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure contractors fully implement Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements, and that all projects conform to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organisational policies.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and timely resolution of concerns.
Quality Culture: Foster a culture of quality assurance and continuous improvement within the project team and across the wider delivery function.
Working Relationships
Internal: Regional leadership, country project teams, finance, procurement, operations
External: Contractors, consultants, suppliers, regulatory bodies, joint venture partners
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in data center project or construction management, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex infrastructure projects.
Industry Background: Demonstrated experience in data centers.
Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple concurrent projects across different locations.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of M&E systems (power, cooling, controls), construction sequencing, and testing/commissioning protocols. Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
Commercial Acumen: Solid experience in budget management, cost control, tendering, and contract administration.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with strong attention to detail.
Interpersonal: Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. Positive, proactive, and resilient under pressure.
Mobility: Willing and able to travel regionally as required (approx. 20–25%).
