Civils QA/QC Engineer (Field-Based)

3-Month Contract

Locations: Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich

Engagement: Freelance or Contract (Engineer must supply own vehicle and fuel)

About the Role We are seeking four experienced Civils Quality Assurance/Quality Control Engineers to support a major hyperscale telecommunications infrastructure programme. Each engineer will operate within one of the listed regions and will be required to travel to multiple sites within that area.

This is a field-based quality assurance and progress monitoring role, responsible for independent inspection, verification, and reporting on civil works. The position plays a key part in ensuring construction activities meet design specifications, safety requirements, and client quality standards, while providing accurate visibility of daily progress and site conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections covering site setup, trenching, duct installation, chambers, and reinstatement works, ensuring compliance with design specifications and local regulations.


• Observe and document construction progress, including completed works, works in progress, and upcoming planned activities.


• Monitor progress against the construction programme and report delays, constraints, or deviations.


• Record accurate geographic locations of works and maintain alignment with project plans and GIS systems.


• Capture photographic evidence and maintain detailed inspection records to support a clear audit trail.


• Verify that civil works are delivered safely, to the required quality standards, and in accordance with approved construction methods.


• Identify defects, non-conformances, and safety concerns, escalating findings to relevant project stakeholders.


• Perform Health & Safety observations and report unsafe practices or statutory/client deviations immediately.


• Liaise with contractors, project teams, and local authorities to communicate inspection findings and support issue resolution.


• Assess reinstatement quality and ensure completed works meet local authority and client expectations.


• Produce accurate daily reports detailing site visits, inspection outcomes, progress updates, and work locations.


• Provide factual, objective reporting to support project visibility, compliance, and decision-making.

Requirements

• Strong background in civil engineering, utilities, fibre, or telecoms construction.


• Proven experience in QA/QC, site inspection, or field-based assurance roles.


• Ability to work independently, manage multiple site visits, and maintain high reporting accuracy.


• Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.


• Has German speaking ability and capable of liaising with contractors and authorities.


• Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices and statutory requirements.
