Microwave Network Design Engineer

Sector: Telecommunications

Work Model: Remote with travel to Saudi Arabia (15 days to 3 months per trip)

Language Requirement: English B2

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Microwave Network Design Engineer to deliver accurate, efficient, and reliable MW transmission designs for large-scale telecom environments. You will be responsible for developing end-to-end transmission solutions, validating RF feasibility, and ensuring optimal link performance across complex transport architectures. This role is central to enabling high-quality network rollout, minimizing deployment risks, and supporting operational excellence through strong engineering standards and cross-domain collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop MW network designs including High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD).

  • Perform link budget calculations, path analysis, and frequency planning.

  • Analyse MW design workflows to ensure optimal performance, capacity, and availability.

  • Support site surveys (LoS and physical validation) and confirm technical feasibility of MW links.

  • Ensure end-to-end consistency between MW design and transport/IP architecture.

  • Collaborate with rollout and implementation teams to ensure smooth deployment execution.

  • Troubleshoot design-related issues affecting network performance or service delivery.

  • Conduct impact analysis of design decisions on availability, resilience, and customer services.

  • Maintain data accuracy across MW planning tools and network documentation.

  • Support integration between MW networks, OSS systems, and IP/MPLS transport layers.

  • Investigate transmission issues across MW links and interfaces.

  • Participate in incident resolution, providing expert MW engineering input.

  • Perform RCA for link failures, degradation, or interference issues.

  • Recommend improvements to MW design standards, methodologies, and engineering practices.

  • Validate configurations and technical parameters during network changes or upgrades.

  • Monitor KPIs such as link availability, throughput, and error rates, ensuring performance compliance.

  • Work closely with cross-domain teams to support end-to-end network performance assurance.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in Microwave network design and planning.

  • Strong experience in MW link design, link budget calculation, and frequency planning.

  • Solid understanding of transport network architecture (MW, IP/MPLS, Sync).

  • Experience integrating MW networks with OSS and Core/Transport systems.

  • Hands-on experience with MW planning tools such as Pathloss, Atoll, or ICS Telecom.

  • Strong knowledge of RF propagation, LoS analysis, and interference management.

  • Familiarity with synchronization technologies (SyncE, IEEE 1588v2) is an advantage.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for MW performance issues.

  • Experience identifying design gaps affecting availability and capacity.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to align with multiple stakeholders.

  • Mandatory willingness to travel to Saudi Arabia for periods ranging from 15 days to 3 months.
