Role: IT Manager
Location: Cape Town
6 Month contract
About the Role
We're partnering with a mission-driven start-up operating in the digital development and advisory space, focused on inclusive and ethical digital transformation in emerging markets. They're looking for a proactive IT Manager to join on a 6-month contract with a strong possibility of renewal.
This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you'll be the driving force behind optimizing and securing the company's entire tech ecosystem. The role is fully remote, but you must be based in Cape Town, South Africa.
What You'll Do
Systems & SaaS Management
- Administer and optimize tools like Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, and Notion.
- Oversee user access, authentication settings, system integrations, and platform configurations.
- Manage licenses, subscription renewals, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
Automation & Systems Integration
- Build smart workflows by integrating systems and automating repetitive processes.
- Drive productivity through custom databases and automations in tools like Notion.
Tech Stack Expansion & Vendor Strategy
- Evaluate business needs and implement new software platforms/tools as required.
- Assess tools for secure data collection, backup, password management, etc.
- Roll out new solutions across the organization and manage change effectively.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure all systems are protected using best-in-class security protocols (2FA, access control, etc.).
- Embed GDPR compliance and secure handling of personal data across platforms.
- Develop and maintain policies for data protection, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
Web Administration
- Oversee domain registrations, DNS configuration, and general web platform management.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years experience in similar roles with primary responsibility for administering enterprise SaaS and implementing enterprise back office software, e.g., HRIS, AP, CRM, etc, including configuration and ongoing management
- A working knowledge of Data Protection, including EU GDPR
- Strong expertise in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Deep experience with Notion (advanced setup and automation) or similar solutions, and cross-platform integrations.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, compliance requirements, and SaaS security settings
- Knowledge of process automation tools (e.g., Zapier, Make, API scripting).
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
- Solid experience with WordPress administration, basic web hosting setup, SSL/DNS management.
- Ability to assess, select, and implement new technology tools independently and pragmatically.
- Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously in a fully remote environment. Desirable Skills
- Front-end web development skills (HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript, React) are a strong plus
