HSE Manager



 



A well-established international data centre operator is seeking an experienced Data Centre HSE Manager to take full ownership of health, safety, environmental compliance, and sustainability across live mission-critical facilities in Finland.



 



This is a senior role embedded in 24/7 operations, responsible for ensuring full compliance with Finnish and EU regulations while proactively managing risk in a cold-climate, high-availability environment.



 



The Role



You will lead all HSE and compliance activity across one or more data centre sites, acting as the senior authority for occupational safety, environmental management, and regulatory engagement.



 



Key responsibilities include:




  • Ensuring compliance with the Finnish OSH Act, EU environmental legislation, and EN 50600

  • Leading HSE risk assessments across operational data centre environments

  • Developing and maintaining site HSE management systems and procedures

  • Planning and leading emergency response strategies and drills (fire, electrical, extreme cold, environmental incidents)

  • Delivering HSE training and driving safety culture across site teams and contractors

  • Managing waste, environmental impact, and sustainability initiatives

  • Supporting green operations, energy efficiency, and carbon-reduction programmes

  • Acting as the primary interface with Finnish regulators, inspectors, and authorities

  • Maintaining audit-ready documentation and reporting to senior management



 



Key Requirements




  • Degree or equivalent experience in HSE, Environmental Engineering, or a technical discipline

  • 5+ years’ experience in HSE management within data centres, critical facilities, or regulated industrial environments

  • Strong working knowledge of Finnish HSE and environmental regulations

  • Experience managing audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance

  • Confident operating in a live, 24/7 operational environment

  • Proven ability to influence site teams and contractors on safety culture



 



Preferred Experience




  • Prior experience in data centre or mission-critical environments

  • Exposure to Tier III / Tier IV facilities

  • Experience in cold-climate or Nordic operations

  • NEBOSH / IOSH / ISO 14001 / Fire Safety certifications

  • Strong sustainability and environmental management experience
