Head of Procurement – Data Centre
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Equipment Procurement: Lead end-to-end global sourcing for high-value critical infrastructure, including hyperscale cooling systems, chillers, UPS, generators, and electrical switchgear.
Vendor, OEM & EPC Management: Qualify, negotiate, and manage contracts with Tier-1 international manufacturers (OEMs), Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors, and design consultancies to ensure integrated delivery.
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Optimization: Drive cost-reduction strategies across the lifecycle of data center design, build, and operations to maximize regional capital deployment efficiency.
Risk & Supply Chain Compliance: Establish strict governance, audit controls, and risk mitigation protocols to avoid construction timelines being delayed by supply chain bottlenecks.
Construction & Operations Procurement: Oversee procurement for both construction phase (MEP, civil, fit-out) and operational phase (maintenance, spares, consumables) to ensure continuity and resilience.
Strategic Partnerships: Build long-term frameworks and master service agreements with design consultancies, OEM providers, and EPC firms to secure competitive pricing, innovation access, and delivery certainty.
Typical Requirements
Industry Experience: 10–15+ years of strategic procurement leadership, with a strong background specifically inside hyperscale data centers, digital infrastructure, telecommunications, or major industrial energy projects.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of technical specifications for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure.
Regional Expertise: Experience navigating tax, customs, compliance, and vendor networks across APAC.
Language Skills: Fluent English and Mandarin required; to manage both Western and Chinese vendor ecosystems.
Global Hyperscaler Experience: Track record of procurement leadership with both US and Chinese hyperscale operators, understanding their differing standards, compliance regimes, and vendor expectations.
Procurement Breadth: Proven capability in both construction procurement (large-scale capex projects) and operations procurement (ongoing opex support for live facilities).
