Job Title: Environmental Technician

Location: Portugal (Project Site)

Project: 100MWp Utility-Scale Solar PV Project

Contract Duration: 20 Months 

Start Date: July 2025

 





Role Overview:



We are recruiting an experienced and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to oversee and ensure compliance with environmental requirements on a 100MWp solar PV project in Portugal. This role involves monitoring, supervising, and independently verifying the EPC contractor's activities to ensure they meet all environmental obligations under the contract, as well as applicable local and EU regulations.





Key Responsibilities:





  • Monitor, supervise, and independently verify that EPC contractor activities align with contractual environmental obligations, project permits, and applicable Portuguese and EU regulations.




  • Ensure correct implementation of the project's Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and associated procedures.




  • Oversee compliance with HSE plans related to environmental protection and sustainability.




  • Conduct regular site inspections and environmental audits (e.g. air quality, noise, water, soil, biodiversity).




  • Review and verify that execution works are being carried out in accordance with environmental permits and constraints.




  • Provide independent assessments of the contractor's environmental performance and raise non-conformance reports where necessary.




  • Assist with liaison and reporting to local environmental authorities and key stakeholders.




  • Promote best environmental practices across all site teams and subcontractors.




  • Record and report environmental incidents and coordinate follow-up investigations.




  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date environmental documentation and logs.







Qualifications & Requirements:





  • Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.




  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in renewable energy or infrastructure projects.




  • Solid understanding of Portuguese environmental legislation and EU directives.




  • Familiarity with project permitting processes and compliance monitoring.




  • Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.




  • Fluent in Portuguese and proficient in English (spoken and written).




  • Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site.







Preferred Skills:





  • Experience with large-scale solar PV or energy infrastructure projects.




  • Familiarity with GIS tools and environmental data management systems.




  • Internal auditing skills and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards.
