Role Overview



We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect – Integrated Business Planning (IBP) to provide strategic architectural leadership across an enterprise-wide Integrated Business Planning environment.



The role will act as a trusted advisor and architectural authority, ensuring that Financial Planning, HR & Workforce Planning, Procurement Planning, Supply Chain Planning, and Commercial Planning operate as a single, connected and integrated planning ecosystem rather than as isolated functional areas.



The successful candidate will translate strategic planning objectives into target architectures, integration blueprints and transformation roadmaps, ensuring that architectural decisions support scalable, connected, insight-driven and sustainable business planning outcomes.



Key Responsibilities



Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Ownership





  • Own and continuously evolve the Enterprise Architecture vision and strategy for enterprise-wide business planning.




  • Define and maintain target architectures and transition roadmaps across:





    • Financial Planning




    • HR & Workforce Planning




    • Procurement Planning




    • Supply Chain Planning




    • Commercial Planning






  • Define the integration architecture connecting planning domains across the core technology landscape.




  • Ensure architectural alignment across programmes, platforms and products contributing to the IBP ecosystem.




  • Identify and minimise application duplication, architectural complexity and technical debt.





Architecture Principles, Standards & Governance





  • Define, communicate and enforce enterprise architecture principles, standards and data governance frameworks.




  • Act as the architectural authority for solution designs and key technology decisions across planning platforms.




  • Ensure new systems and solutions integrate effectively with the existing enterprise technology landscape.




  • Ensure architecture decisions support long-term business and technology objectives.




  • Establish consistent and governed planning data models across domains, including:





    • Data hierarchies




    • Scenarios




    • Forecast versions




    • Actuals






  • Ensure planning data is interoperable and consistently governed across all planning functions.





Business Transformation & Value Enablement





  • Provide enterprise-level architectural leadership for IBP transformation within an FMCG/CPG environment.




  • Advise senior and executive stakeholders on architectural trade-offs, risks, opportunities and technology capabilities.




  • Develop transitional architectures that minimise business disruption while providing a clear path towards the target-state architecture.




  • Drive simplification of the application and data landscape to improve agility, resilience and cost efficiency.




  • Architect complex planning process integrations, particularly the convergence of Top-Down Business Planning (BP) and Bottom-Up Latest Estimate (LE) planning to support rolling consensus forecasting.




  • Enable real-time or near-real-time data flows between planning platforms and operational systems.




  • Ensure technology and process integration supports responsive, connected and data-driven enterprise planning.





Investment Protection & Delivery Alignment





  • Provide architectural assurance and due diligence for major transformation and technology initiatives.




  • Ensure initiatives remain aligned with approved enterprise architectures, principles and transformation roadmaps.




  • Identify and mitigate architectural and technology risks.




  • Collaborate closely with Agile and SAFe delivery teams to ensure architecture is practical, actionable and supports effective delivery.




  • Provide architectural guidance throughout the solution lifecycle, from strategy and design through to implementation.





Qualifications & Experience





  • Matric/Grade 12 and a relevant tertiary qualification.




  • Extensive experience working as an Enterprise Architect within large-scale, complex FMCG/CPG organisations.




  • Proven experience operating at enterprise and executive level, with the ability to translate complex technical and integration concepts into clear business value.




  • Strong understanding of end-to-end Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes.




  • Demonstrated ability to map and integrate complex business planning processes, including:





    • Commercial Planning – Volume & Value




    • Promotional Planning




    • Demand Planning




    • Supply Chain Planning




    • Cost Planning




    • Manufacturing Planning




    • Procurement Planning




    • Workforce Planning






  • Deep knowledge of modern data architecture, integration patterns and API-led connectivity.




  • Strong experience working within an Azure Data Platform environment.




  • Experience working within large-scale, complex technology landscapes involving multiple platforms, applications and vendors.




  • Practical knowledge of TOGAF, particularly its application across:





    • Architecture principles




    • Target-state architecture




    • Transition roadmaps




    • Architecture governance






  • Experience working in Agile and SAFe environments.




  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.




  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and architectural governance capabilities.
