Electrical Engineer

First Point Group is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer (18th Edition) with a strong background in AC/DC power systems and telecoms infrastructure, with telecoms experience on mobile towers and masts.  The successful candidate will have hands-on experience supporting mobile networks through the installation, inspection, and testing of telecom power systems ensuring compliance with BS7671 standards and industry best practices.

Our client is a growing telecom infrastructure specialist delivering end-to-end network services across the UK. They partner with major operators to execute both turnkey and bespoke projects, improving network availability and performance nationwide.

Your responsibilities - 60% field-based electrical installation & testing | 25% compliance & certification | 15% site reporting & planning.

Role Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the reliable operation and implementation of telecom power systems. The role involves delivering high-quality, compliant installations that underpin the performance of mobile network infrastructure across the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Install AC and DC power systems for wireless telecom infrastructure
• Conduct testing and inspection of installations, producing high-standard certification
• Ensure compliance with BS7671 standards and recognised industry practices
• Maintain high levels of workmanship and adhere to health and safety regulations
• Travel nationwide to various project sites as required

Skills and Experience

• Strong knowledge of power supply systems and mobile telecom infrastructure
• Previous experience in telecoms or similar engineering sectors
• Familiarity with BS7671 and Guidance Note 3 (GN3)
• Ability to think logically and work independently under pressure
• Excellent decision-making skills and strong attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital reporting platforms
• Full UK driving licence is essential

Required Qualifications

• Fully Qualified Electrician (e.g., City & Guilds or equivalent)
• 18th Edition (BS 7671:2018)
• C&G 2391-52 – Inspection & Testing (Initial and Periodic)

Desirable Certifications

• C&G 2396 – Electrical Design
• C&G 2377 – PAT Testing
• Working at Height certification (including medical, RF awareness, and first aid)
• JIB Card
