**Job Title:** Data Centre mechanical design manager



**Location:** Singapore



**Job Summary:**

The Senior Design Manager (Mechanical) is responsible for leading the mechanical design and delivery of data center projects.



This role ensures that all mechanical systems—particularly HVAC and cooling—are designed and implemented to meet client requirements, industry standards, and project objectives. The role involves close collaboration with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and clients, to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions.

**Key Responsibilities:**



**1. Project Coordination**

- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines (electrical, structural, ICT) to integrate mechanical designs into overall project plans.

- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project scope, schedule, and deliverables.



**2. Technical Leadership**

- Oversee the planning and design management of data center mechanical systems, including defining design schemes, organizing design processes, and reviewing construction plans.

- Provide expert guidance on HVAC systems, chiller plants, air distribution, liquid cooling, and alternative energy solutions to ensure designs meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.

- Conduct preliminary planning for data centers, including capacity and reliability analysis, as well as technical cost control.



**3. Quality Assurance**

- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve HVAC professional design management systems, design standards, and manuals for data centers.

- Implement quality control processes to verify the accuracy and reliability of mechanical designs and systems.

- Review designs, drawings, and technical submissions prior to issuance to ensure compliance with project requirements.



**4. Problem Solving**

- Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges related to mechanical design and implementation, minimizing project risks.

- Provide technical support and engineering guidance for HVAC systems at construction sites, ensuring the practicality and feasibility of on-site solutions.



**5. Vendor Coordination**

- Manage HVAC equipment bidding and procurement processes.

- Work with vendors and suppliers to specify and select mechanical equipment (chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handling units, CDUs, etc.) that aligns with design requirements and project needs.



**6. Innovation & System Optimization**

- Research and implement new HVAC technologies within data centers, including liquid cooling systems and energy-efficient solutions.

- Manage the full lifecycle design of data centers to ensure project timelines, optimize costs, and enhance quality.



**7. Documentation**

- Prepare and review design documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and reports, ensuring comprehensive and accurate records.

**Qualifications:**



**Education**

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.



**Experience**

- Strong experience in data centre mechanical design management.

- Proven track record of independently completing large-scale HVAC system planning and detailed construction design.

- Strong understanding of liquid cooling systems with proven design capabilities; experience with liquid cooling projects on large scale project 



**Technical Expertise**

- In-depth knowledge of data center industry standards and regulations, including national design specifications, TIA-942 standards, and Uptime Tier criteria.

- Proficient in system principles and load calculations; familiar with major HVAC equipment including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and air conditioning terminals.

- Demonstrated experience in developing design rules and standards, managing design teams, and contributing to national or industry standards—experience within design institutes, architectural consulting firms, or data center engineering companies is preferred.
