Data Centre Electrical Engineer



 



A leading international data centre operator is seeking an experienced Data Centre Electrical Engineer to support the 24/7 operation of mission-critical facilities in Finland.



 



This role is embedded in live operations and is responsible for the reliability, safety, and optimisation of all high- and low-voltage electrical systems within a Tier III / Tier IV environment.



 



The Role



You will take ownership of electrical operations across one or more data centre sites, ensuring resilient power delivery, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of electrical performance.



 



Key responsibilities include:




  • Operation and maintenance of HV/LV electrical systems, including UPS, batteries, diesel generators, ATS/STS

  • Coordination with Fingrid and local DSOs on power availability, outages, and maintenance planning

  • Electrical fault diagnosis, emergency response, and incident resolution

  • Compliance with Finnish electrical regulations, EN 50600, OSH Act, and safety standards

  • Participation in safety drills and resilience testing (power loss, extreme weather)

  • Electrical system optimisation, including UPS modes, harmonic mitigation, and reactive power control

  • Use of BMS / EMS platforms for monitoring and performance analysis

  • Supplier management, technical documentation, and audit support

  • Close collaboration with mechanical and operations teams



 



Key Requirements




  • Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems

  • 3+ years' experience in data centre or critical facilities electrical operations

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of HV/LV systems, UPS, generators, and power distribution

  • Experience working in Tier III / Tier IV environments

  • Familiarity with Finnish electrical standards and S1 / S2 certification requirements

  • Comfortable operating in a 24/7, high-availability environment



 



Preferred Experience




  • Prior experience operating data centres in Finland or the Nordics

  • Experience coordinating with utilities, grid operators, or DSOs

  • Strong understanding of EN 50600 and EU regulatory frameworks

  • Experience with energy efficiency and power optimisation projects

  • BMS / EMS proficiency
