SCOPE OF WORK

The Data Center Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, assessment, construction management, and supervision of Data Center site infrastructure systems, including Electrical, ELV, and Mechanical components. The role requires strong knowledge of best practices and engineering principles related to telecom facilities, computer rooms, and data centers.


 



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES






  • Meet with clients to determine project requirements and availability.

  • Collaborate with the Design Team throughout the design process and coordinate with engineering specialists to enhance designs based on site lessons learned.

  • Coordinate and supervise implementation and construction activities in accordance with international standards.

  • Work with Design and Installation teams, respond to inquiries, and support design development and construction activities.

  • Review total power requirements for IT and cooling loads; verify capacity and specifications for utility power, generators, transformers, ATS, UPS, and distribution to IT environments.

  • Verify site layout designs for electrical equipment and ensure proper routing of power distribution.

  • Review client system specifications, understand MEP system performance, and analyze functional and technical requirements.

  • Provide insights on security systems (CCTV, Access Control), Public Address/Voice Evacuation, Fire Alarm, and BMS solutions relevant to data center spaces and M&E support facilities.

  • Conduct site inspections, act as a site engineer, and generate documentation and punch lists identifying deficiencies and recommendations.

  • Review and approve material submittals and shop drawings.

  • Supervise installation of electrical equipment.

  • Oversee testing and commissioning activities to ensure proper system integration and performance as intended in the design.

  • Provide periodic reports on activity status and achievements to the direct manager.

  • Stay updated on the latest developments in the field.



REQUIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES




  • 1–3 years of experience in Data Center design or construction for enterprise projects across sectors such as Telecom, Banking, and Data Center Service Providers.

  • Knowledge of the full project lifecycle: design, execution, system selection, testing, commissioning, and intermediate stages.

  • Familiarity with Tier topologies, Uptime Institute guidelines, and TIA-942 standards.

  • Understanding of Electrical or Mechanical system design and configuration.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with designers, engineers, and technology providers.

  • Ability to propose innovative solutions and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong influence and decision-making impact.

  • Excellent customer service mindset with the ability to balance multiple stakeholders’ needs.

  • Preferably experienced with technology providers and OEM vendors (e.g., power, cooling, fire suppression, and infrastructure manufacturers).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, and Revit.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic, including in conflict situations.

  • Willingness to travel to company or client sites/branches.

  • Willingness to relocate to sites/branches as required.

  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP)

  • Other relevant certification
