Associate Director – Capital Markets / Debt Services (Hong Kong)
Role Overview
An established financial services firm is seeking an experienced Associate Director to join its cross-border Debt Capital Markets (DCM) and liability management services team in Hong Kong. This role supports complex debt transactions, restructurings, and agency services across APAC, Europe, and the US, working closely with investment banks, law firms, and financial advisers.
The Associate Director will play a key role in business development, transaction execution, and client management, acting as a trusted senior contact throughout the deal lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Coverage
- Support origination activities, pitching, and networking to generate new business
- Proactively manage and grow a pipeline of prospective clients
- Identify cross-sell opportunities and strengthen long-term client relationships
- Partner with regional and global teams on cross-border transactions
Transaction Execution & Operations
- Lead and manage new business enquiries and onboarding
- Act as deal team member responsible for execution, including due diligence, structuring, and documentation
- Serve as primary client contact during live transactions
- Co-ordinate with operations teams to deliver multiple transactions accurately and on time
- Review and negotiate standard DCM and transaction documentation
- Liaise with central securities depositories, custodian banks, and institutional investors
- Support billing accuracy and timely invoicing
Leadership & Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, legal, risk, and regional teams to ensure effective delivery
- Provide guidance and oversight to support teams managing multiple concurrent projects
- Demonstrate strong relationship management and communication skills internally and externally
Governance & Risk
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and internal risk frameworks
- Maintain high quality and control standards across all client engagements
Experience & Skills Required
- Strong experience in Debt Capital Markets, including liability management and restructuring transactions
- Solid understanding of DCM operational processes (e.g. tender offers, exchange offers, consent solicitations)
- Proven regional transaction experience (Asia required; Europe/US advantageous)
- Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese
- Strong commercial judgment, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders across banks, issuers, and advisers
- Bachelor's degree (finance or related discipline preferred)
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly when required
