A UK-based telecommunications provider specialising in VoIP solutions and AI-powered communications. We are experiencing rapid growth in demand for our AI Receptionist service, which leverages cutting-edge conversational AI platforms to deliver intelligent, human-like voice interactions for businesses.



As part of this growth, we are looking for an experienced AI Voice Agent Engineer to help design, build, and maintain scalable AI voice solutions for our customers.



 


Role Overview



You will be responsible for building and optimising AI-powered voice agents using platforms such as ElevenLabs, VAPI, and Retell, integrating them with business systems (CRMs, helpdesks, booking systems), and ensuring high-quality conversational experiences.



This role combines AI conversational design, backend integration, and automation workflows.



 


Key Responsibilities




  • Design, build, and deploy AI voice agents using:


    • ElevenLabs (voice synthesis & cloning)

    • VAPI

    • Retell AI



  • Create natural, high-quality conversational flows for AI receptionists

  • Integrate AI voice agents with third-party systems (e.g. CRMs, booking tools, helpdesks)

  • Build and manage automation workflows using n8n (webhooks, triggers, API calls)

  • Develop and maintain API integrations (REST, webhooks, JSON-based systems)

  • Optimise call flows for performance, latency, and user experience

  • Monitor and troubleshoot live AI agents

  • Collaborate with internal teams to scope and deliver client solutions

  • Continuously improve voice quality, intent handling, and conversation design



 


Required Skills & Experience




  • Proven experience working with ElevenLabs, VAPI, and/or Retell AI

  • Strong understanding of AI voice agents / conversational AI systems

  • Experience with webhooks and API integrations

  • Hands-on experience with n8n or similar automation tools (Zapier, Make)

  • Solid understanding of:

    • REST APIs

    • JSON

    • Authentication (API keys, OAuth where applicable)



  • Experience integrating systems with CRM platforms (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho)

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment



 


Desirable Skills




  • Experience in telecoms / VoIP / SIP environments

  • Knowledge of call handling logic (IVR, routing, call flows)

  • Basic scripting or programming (JavaScript, Python, etc.)

  • Experience with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)

  • Understanding of speech-to-text / text-to-speech pipelines
