How we helped Mavenir build a team that produced industry leading Open RAN products

Mavenir, is an award-winning, American-headquartered, global telecommunications software organisation, with over 5,000 employees in over 30 offices worldwide. Over the last several years, Mavenir has been one of the leading independent vendors in the game changing O-RAN market. 

What Mavenir needed 

Mavenir decided to create a new Research & Development (R&D) team for their 4G/5G and O-RAN Radio product development. The focus for this team was to develop best-in-class radio products. The main challenge for Mavenir was to recruit suitably skilled candidates with experience working in the United States and who shared Mavenir’s desire to create industry-leading products. This desire meant that the recruitment process had to be acted upon quickly so that the new R&D team could be working as soon as possible. 

Partnering with First Point Group (FPG) 

Mavenir chose to partner with us for several reasons. Our 17 years’ recruitment experience across the US telecoms market meant that Mavenir’s requirements were taken care of by a reliable and proven recruitment agency. Our skills and expertise in the US telecoms recruitment market ensured that Mavenir would save time, money and resources by working with us rather than having to find the right candidates themselves. We focused on recruiting their R&D team, meaning Mavenir could continue with business as usual.

Identifying relevant candidates for this assignment, under time constraints, required us to act quickly and adopt a multi-faceted candidate search strategy that reached both passive and active candidates. A dedicated FPG Account Manager with a technical background in RAN engineering was assigned to Mavenir, ensuring a technical and consistent service was provided throughout the process.

Using our vast candidate network, our internal CLIMBS candidate delivery system, a candidate referral strategy and our Account Manager’s O-RAN technical knowledge; we were able to create relevant candidate pools which ensured recruitment lead times were reduced as only suitably qualified candidates were submitted to Mavenir. This saved Mavenir valuable time having to find candidates themselves.

The successful recruitment of O-RAN jobs 

We successfully recruited four O-RAN senior specialists with Mavenir. The successful candidates helped strengthen Mavenir’s O-RAN Radio offering by producing new radio products with O-RAN architecture, along with their virtualized core product. The success of this team means that Mavenir can continue to meet their increasing number of client projects. 

Mavenir’s R&D division continues to go from strength-to- strength, helping the wider company to generate new business and win awards: 

  • DISH (in the USA) partnered with Mavenir to deliver Cloud-Native O-RAN Software which was the USA’s first Virtual 5G Wireless Broadband Network (more information here)
  • Mavenir partnered with National Telecom Public Company Limited to power Thailand’s first Smart City rollout with 5G O-RAN integration (more information here
  • Award winners. Mavenir won the Small Cell Forum Judges’ Choice award for its role in transforming mobile networks through its Multi-G O-RAN small cell solutions and its Mobile Network Operator (MNO) O-RAN neutral host integration (more information here)
