The Director of Data Center Procurement, under the guidance of the Senior Vice President of Data Center Delivery, is a leadership position tasked with developing a global strategy for long-lead equipment procurement (such as generators, transformers, and chillers) with potential expansion into other business areas. This role offers the opportunity to join a dedicated and high-performing team while establishing a global procurement program.

Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive category-based procurement plans to meet project goals within budget and on schedule. Maintain and execute construction contracting strategies for large, complex data center construction projects to ensure optimal cost and consistent supply and services.
  • Negotiation: Formulate pricing and negotiation strategies, clearly outlining trade-offs, roles, and responsibilities. Identify and address negotiation challenges to mitigate contract disputes.
  • Supplier Selection: Establish processes, RFPs, and minimum requirements for supplier selection, including production planning and capacity analysis. Foster strong relationships with vendors globally and regionally.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with construction managers across regions, adapting global standards and processes to regional technical and cultural specifics.
  • Contracting: Understand industry contracting norms and participate in negotiating contracts that align with business goals. Execute contracts and adhere to control processes to ensure contract delivery and execution meet business requirements.
  • Contract Oversight: Monitor key supplier performance metrics and implement corrective actions and lessons learned. Manage contract and change order negotiations.
  • Cost Reduction: Identify cost reduction opportunities and work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to enhance cost competitiveness.
  • Continuous Improvement: Seek to streamline, automate, and simplify processes. Deploy tools, use data analytics, and work with IT to define system requirements. Organize performance review strategies.


Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with 10+ years of experience in Construction Management or Procurement.
    • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, with 5+ years of experience in Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Project Experience: 5+ years managing large, complex capital projects.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the data center industry and various project delivery methods. Ability to lead a project team in risk assessment and appropriate contracting.
  • Technical Skills: Competence in contract writing, sourcing plans, negotiation strategies, and execution.
  • Process Improvement: Knowledge of methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma, and the ability to facilitate change management.
  • Implementation: Ability to implement new processes and secure cross-functional team buy-in.
  • Sourcing Strategy: Drive sourcing strategy and supply chain execution across multiple categories.
  • Project Integration: Successfully integrate into large-scale construction projects and manage contracts exceeding $200 million.
  • Environment Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills within a team setting.
  • Analytical Skills: Self-starter with superior analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Integrity: Demonstrate good judgment, honesty, and utmost integrity.

  • Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and background. Bonus eligible.

  • Final compensation will be determined at the offer stage and may exceed the posted range based on skills, experience, industry-specific knowledge, education/certifications, or geographic location. The offer represents the components of our total package.
