Our client, a leading company in the industry, is seeking a talented Network Engineer to join their team in Durban for a 6-7 month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your knowledge in network design, optimisation, and troubleshooting, while supporting critical network infrastructure for voice, data, and other communications services.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality support across a range of network services, diagnosing issues, and ensuring optimal network performance. If you have a strong Cisco background and enjoy solving complex technical challenges, this is the ideal opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide infield support on network solutions, including wired and wireless networks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Address service requests efficiently via the Altron Digital Business Service Desk.
- Monitor and proactively manage network solutions to meet service level requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams and inventory management.
- Provide expert recommendations to improve network systems and prevent future issues.
- Work closely with the network team to meet SLA targets and ensure smooth operations.
- Provide 24x7 platform support on a rotating basis.
- Actively engage in knowledge transfer and skill development initiatives.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Cisco Certification (CCNP or higher is required).
- At least 3-4 years’ experience in network engineering.
- Proficiency in Cisco Firepower and Cisco ASA firewalls.
- Strong experience in L2 and L3 network troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with wireless network troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with Alcatel-Lucent networks is a plus.
- Knowledge of SIP/VOIP, cloud technologies, and the TCP/IP protocol stack.
- Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A proactive approach to network service management and improvement.
