First point group is seeking 3 skilled and dedicated Datacenter Technicians to join a fast-paced team on a contracting basis. This exciting opportunity involves working across 7 Datacenters providing support and services in the London/Docklands/Slough areas. As a Datacenter Technician, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of network equipment and infrastructure across multiple Datacenters. This role requires someone with a strong understanding of standard cabling technologies, rack infrastructure, and industry best practices for Smart Hands services.
Responsibilities:
- Support the installation and decommissioning of network equipment and cabinets at various datacenter locations.
- Provide Smart Hands services for planned activities as directed by the customer.
- Perform general installation, cabling, and wiring tasks, ensuring adherence to industry standards and guidelines.
- Conduct housekeeping duties within the Points of Presence (PoPs) to maintain a clean and organised environment.
- Deploy equipment at new PoP locations, following the company's standards guide for installation procedures.
- Label all installed cabling, conduct testing as required, and ensure proper documentation of activities.
Requirements:
- Experience in standard cabling technologies, installation, and rack infrastructure within a Datacenter environment.
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices for performing Smart Hands services.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Must possess own vehicle for travel to various sites and own hand tools.
- Flexible availability to work Monday to Friday with opportunities for overtime as needed.
