Construction Project Engineer

We are looking for a rising Construction Engineer to join our team and support our expansion and capital improvement projects. The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience and a solid understanding of critical building systems and general building operations. This role will primarily focus on projects in Kansas City, MO, and St. Louis, MO, but may also support our broader portfolio.

- Oversee construction projects within the portfolio from inception to completion

- Support project budgeting and cost estimation

- Address and resolve issues with subcontractors, engineers, architects, and other contributors

- Conduct and document all project meetings

- Review and approve payment applications and associated closeout documents

- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes

- Evaluate, communicate, and mitigate project risks

- Collaborate with subcontractors, engineers, architects, and project team members

- Ensure all project deadlines are met

- Keep stakeholders informed on project progress and prepare regular progress reports

- Handle environmental or local community issues that arise during projects

- Conduct site checks to monitor progress and quality standards

- Maintain ethical, professional, and courteous relations with contractors and tenants

- Stay updated on the latest construction technology and process efficiencies

- Participate in ad hoc projects or assignments as needed

Position Requirements and Desired Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, business development, or a related field is strongly preferred

- Experience in the data center or telecommunications industry is highly desirable

- At least 5 years of proven experience in construction management is strongly preferred

- Knowledge of construction management processes, methods, and means

- Familiarity with building products, construction details, and relevant regulations and quality standards

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints

- Proficiency with construction management software

- Skilled in conflict and crisis management

- Excellent time and project management abilities

- Advanced knowledge of Word and Excel, with working knowledge of MRI, Avid, Procore, BIM, Primavera, or MS Project being a plus

- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex analysis and solutions confidently

- Detail-oriented problem solver with a collaborative, win-win attitude

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing priorities effectively while meeting strict deadlines

- Demonstrates the highest ethical and professional conduct and integrity
